Another white hat post. Just to remind you people, some websites get no.1 spot in very competitive keywords with three way link exchanges (where cleverly they make the links look very natural). If you only depend on natural back links with anchor text "click here" or your domain name plus article submission, you won't be able to beat your competitors in competitive keywords. So I think link exchange is still important, especially for those who know the way to do it

This is another tactic search engines don't like, because it's barter. You're giving a link in order to get a link. It's also pretty easy for the search engine to detect and devalue. There's no reason not to swap links with a small number of selected business partners -- just don't expect to get SEO (define) benefits from it.

Where you get into trouble with link swapping is when it makes up a large percentage of your inbound link profile. Google made adjustments in it's Bigdaddy update, which reportedly devalued the rankings of sites with too large a percentage of inbound links.

Search engines don't want you to purchase links for purposes of link building because they want the links to be the result of the editorial judgment of someone at the site providing the link.

We've recommended against this strategy for several years now, as it has always been at odds with the stated expectations of the search engines. Now that Google has taken the next step and is actively punishing sites that buy and sell links, this tactic is riskier than ever.

Honestly, you can still buy links that pass PageRank. Google's system isn't perfect. However, it's increasingly hard to do so when your competitor can manually detect your paid links and report them to Google, who will then turn them off.

So, if finding links that pass PageRank to buy is hard, and developing natural links is hard, why not focus on the strategy that comes without a risk of your efforts being wasted (i.e. developing natural links).

I've tried many hosts big and small. Im sure youll find the smaller the host the better it runs. In general most way overpopulate the server. I had a small page with very little graphics on it took almost a minute to load a simple page. There response to me was that I need to make a text only site LOL.

Ya thatll grab peoples attention. There are many tools on the net you can use to see how many sites are sharing your shared ip if your sharing one. Ive done this ebfore just to see how badly overpopulated it is. Unfortunately this can happen with any host big or small. Depending on the server you get put on and the amount of traffic thats visiting your site and the other sites hosted on that server.

In most cases you have to realize your still sharing 100mb network card in most cases some may have Gb cards look at your connection speed and do the math. In most cases your running a hit or miss on a quality webhost. It may just be a matter of the server you get put on just keep moving along till you hit one.

Hello everyone,

I am new, and instead of a normal introduction, I thought I'd try and contribute to the forum on something I know how to do well - find and sell (or keep) quality domain names. All the resources are free and I use these steps:

1. I go to http://www.wsmdomains.com/help/expireddaily.html and download any list. But keep in mind that most registrants have a grace period of 5 days before the domain is available again for registering. So I usually pick a list 6 days old or older, or I get little or no results.

2. Download the domain filter (free) at this URL: http://www.alouwebdesign.ca/free-dow...ame-filter.htm . With this software, I can import my list and set up filters of all sorts, based on length, prefix, suffix, etc. I can also add a list of words that can be anywhere in the domain name.

Example: .com names are worth more than others so I will filter the others out by adding ".com" to my filter. Now it will only find .com names.

Example 2: Domain names with the word "loan" in them sell well, so I would add "loan" to my filter.

3. After I filter my list, I now copy 500 names at a time to http://www.moniker.com/domains/batch_reg.jsp . It is a bulk domain registration tool, and there may be others I don't know of. It allows 500 maximum names, which is plenty. Now I can see which names are available and pick names I want from that list.

I'll give you some words that are good for domains (for use in the filter):

free
car
cheap
discount
love
foreclosure

If you look at what sold for a lot on eBay you can easily see some other valuable words to add to your filter list.

I might also make a video tutorial of how to use the filter if enough people are interested.
